Be Wildfire Award

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to take care in woodland to reduce the chance of a wildfire.

Extinguish cigarettes properly. Do not throw cigarette ends on the ground or out of car windows. Take your litter home - glass bottles could start a fire.

Never light fires in woodland or any other area of the countryside without express permission from the land owner.

If you see a fire in the countryside, ring 999 immediately and report it to the Fire & Rescue Service. Early detection is vital to prevent small fires developing into large wildfire incidents.

Do not attempt to tackle fires that can’t be put out with a bucket of water.

Leave the area as quickly as possible and call 999.
