The Wayz Cake Sale

We were really proud of The Wayz members for making such a success of their cake sale this summer. They raised over £80 towards their care package project for local vulnerable, elderly residents, collected over 50 items for the local food bank and shared their positive mental health images.

Members from The Wayz and The Zone, young people and volunteers, worked so hard to put together this event. This included Food Hygiene training, extensive meetings, planning and creating positive mental health leaflets as part of their Mental Health Youth Champion Project. They even ended the day with a litter pick in the local area!

Congratulations to everyone who took part and a big thank you for Councillor Chris Turrell who supported this event and, we’re sure, enjoyed the delicious cakes he bought!

Message from members:

“All the volunteers are proud of the effort they put in with the fundraiser, which was community friendly due to COVID. Thanks to everyone who donated food for the food bank and brought cakes it was much appreciated and all the money raised will go towards care packages for care homes.”
