THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARD (DofE)
Berkshire Youth run a virtual award program for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme. This provides a young person the flexibility to engage to suit their lifestyle, resources and time. It also provides the opportunity for young people to participate in the scheme if their school has reached capacity.
The DofE Award is a non-competitive programme for those aged 14 to 24. Highly valued by employers and universities, the award recognises the commitment and dedication required to achieve each level.

How It Works
Participants work independently, sourcing their own assessors and expedition programmes. We provide support and advice through the eDofE online platform.
Registration Costs:
Bronze/Silver: £65
Gold: £75
Award Levels
The DofE Award has three levels, each requiring a greater time commitment:
Bronze: Starts in Year 9 (from September)
Silver: Starts in Year 10 (from September)
Gold: Starts from age 16
All activities must be completed before the participant turns 25. Gold Award achievers are invited, along with a parent or guardian, to receive their certificate at a Royal Palace.
Volunteering:
Regularly help others in your community through an after-school club, charity work, or environmental projects.
Physical:
Engage in a sport, dance, or fitness activity, showing improvement over time. Options range from football to yoga, swimming to skateboarding.
Skills:
Develop an existing skill or learn something new, with choices ranging from DJing to drama, science to zoology.
Expedition:
Plan, train for and complete an adventurous journey. While most expeditions are on foot, options include cycling, canoeing, or horse riding.

Residential (Gold level only):
Participate in a 5-day, 4-night residential experience with people you don’t know. This could be a conservation project, a cooking or language course, or a children’s activity camp.
Participants track their progress through the eDofE online system, where leaders monitor, support, and approve their achievements.
